The Windom Police Department reported a hit and run on the 23rd at 11:45am. A witness reported that the garage at 1437 2nd Ave was struck by an unknown passenger vehicle. The vehicle was described as a black SUV and may have rear damage and was seen traveling west as he left the area of the back alley.
At 12:14pm an officer took a report from a Windom resident reporting a burglary from a locked shop in the 2300 block of Highway 60. The suspect broke a window to gain entry. The theft occurred sometime between 4pm on the 22nd and 11:30am on 4/23. Taken was a 79 ½ inch tall by 47 ¼ in width, Oliver Neon Sign, angle iron welded to sign, valued at over $10,000.

Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office reported at 8:19 pm on the 20th Deputies received a drug complaint on Co Rd 44 in Mountain Lake. Upon further investigation and searching the property, a 39-year-old male from Mountain Lake was arrested and was booked into the Cottonwood County Jail.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Department reported 10 calls from the 21st through the 23rd. A deputy assisted Fairmont Police Department with their investigation into a domestic disturbance in Fairmont. A 35-year-old male was arrested at his place of employment in Jackson and turned over to the Fairmont Police Department on the 21st. Deputies also assisted the Jackson Ambulance three times with medical calls, conducted and issued citations on two traffic stops, a jailer transported a 37-year-old male from Fargo ND he has been charged with 5th Degree Controlled Substance Possession in Jackson County as part of a pursuit that began in Jackson County and ended in Martin County. He was also charged with Fleeing a Peace Office in a Motor Vehicle, Reckless Driving, Speeding, and Disobey Stop Sign in Martin County as part of that pursuit. The warrant he was transported on was issued after he failed to comply with the Pre-trial Conditions of Release. A deputy on the 23rd responded to a report of a burglary. The matter remains under investigation. On a good Samaritan note, a purse was left behind at the Clear Lake Rest Area on I-90 and turned into the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy connected with the Lakeville Police Department who in turn stopped at the owner’s residence and relayed the message that the purse is safe and sound at the Sheriff’s office. Arrangements have been made for the owner to come to Jackson to retrieve it.

Federated Rural Electric of Jackson is sponsoring the Annual Spring Clean-Up Day at Kilen Woods State Park on Saturday May 6th from 9am to Noon. They are looking for people of all ages to help come clean up picnic shelters, clean up brush and branches, mend existing structures and pick up litter along the trails of the park. A free lunch with hot dogs, chips and cookie will be served to all volunteers. Kilen Woods is located at 50200 860th Street, Lakefield.
