Windom Getting Ready to Make Up Some Ground Going Into The Holiday Break – Eric Thomas

The Middle of December has not been nice to area schools as last week Mother Nature decided to announce her presence with authority and dumped so much snow and brought the winds so fierce that almost all schools went from 2 hours delayed to cancelled classes which cancelled any and all activities including a couple of big matchups for Windom sports. Last Tuesday would have seen the Windom Boys Basketball team hosting the Trojans of Worthington in a Big South Conference game played at the blue gym, That game is rescheduled to 12/20/22, Girls basketball was supposed to be playing the Girls team of the Worthington split on the road on Tuesday, that game has been rescheduled to well after the new year,  Tuesday the Eagle boys hockey team was supposed to play in Luverne on the road, now they will play the end of January and the boys hockey team was supposed to host the cardinals of Red wood valley on Thursday but that game will be played in February.   The end of the week would have had a girl’s home hockey game and a game for the girls eagles basketball program but the girls hockey team will play just after the new year the girls will make up that game on 12/20/22.
                The Girls and Boys basketball programs will welcome the teams from Worthington for the boys and blue earth for the girls. Game time for the boys is 6pm with the girls starting about 20 minutes after the completion of the boys’ game.  The Windom Boys are coming off a 11 day break and a 107-86 loss on the road and last season Worthington and Windom split the seasons with a win a piece for each squad on their respective home courts. Worthington is a pretty hard opponent for the eagles but the Eagles won pretty handedly last season. The eagles do have youth on their side as they only have a handful of seniors where Worthington has a mostly senior squad. Tip off is 6pm pregame will begin at 5:40 pm on KDOM 1580 103.1 and online at windomradio.com. The Girls will tip off against blue earth in a regularly scheduled game. The girls will be on the road on 12/19/22 and at home on 12/20/22 their last game was postponed due to weather. The Eagles and Blue earth have not faced each other on the schedule before so this will be a surprise for both squads. Before the game against Worthington was postponed the eagles were flying high off a win against Red wood valley at home.  Tip off will be just after the end of the boys game on KDOM 1580 103.1 and online at windomradio.com
