Hegg went on to say, the top 2 schools according to judges’ rankings will advance to the section 3A. *There are 4 subsections (9, 10, 11, & 12). Each subsection advances two schools for a total of 8 schools competing at the section level. The eight advancing schools from subsection contests will compete for an opportunity to perform at the State One Act Play Festival on Friday, February 11th. Tickets to the Subsection 9 performances and also for the Section 3A contest are $8 for adults and $5 for students.
…. On a personal note- My kids participated in One Act Plays back when they were in High School, and I have to tell you the time and effort that these kids put into their shot at the State Level is incredible. It was amazing to watch our youth in action. IF you have nothing to do, even if your child is not involved this is a great means for entertainment. Let the Arts whisk you away for a day!

You can’t go anywhere without hearing about CoVid. What is does, what it doesn’t do, what you are supposed to do, what you aren’t supposed to do… It is all very overwhelming when there really isn’t a straight answer for everyone to follow. How everyone reacts is going to be different. But there is something that we can all do if we are faced with that “POSITIVE” outcome. According to Kerstin Cooley, MSW, LICSW- local licensed therapist of Stepping Stone Counseling in Windom there is something we can all do that will help. “STAY IN THE MOMENT” don’t get caught up in the what if’s or jump to worst case scenarios. Cooley suggests that we look at the facts and make a list of all your symptoms. Do you have a headache? Do you have a sore throat? Are you Coughing or have body aches? All these are symptoms BUT do you have all of them? By looking at the facts and spelling them out, a person can put it all in perspective. Once your list is made, it will be easier to see that your initial reaction to the test results doesn’t match up to catastrophe we built up in our minds. Cooley stated it is important to take a moment to breathe and recognize the wave of anxiety that you are on. Once you have recognized the emotions that don’t match the facts the anxiety will subside. It is important to allow yourself to cope your way through unprecedented thoughts and feelings. Everyone is different. We will all experience Covid differently. BUT the first reaction of knowing you have tested positive may be the difference in the course of your journey. IF you are running a high temperature, if you feel like you have an elephant on your chest, gasping for air or if you are in an acute state- PLEASE call an ambulance or make your way to the ER,BUT if you are dealing with anxiety of the WHAT IFS of a POSITIVE test…list your symptoms and check the facts. Just know that you are not alone. If you are finding yourself worried or scared, feeling emotionally overwhelmed and can’t cope with the diagnosis please reach out. Cooley said they would gladly accept a crisis appointment. You can call 507-221-0005 to get help. Covid is amongst us but there are so many ways to overcome the fear of the diagnosis and quarantine.
