The Cottonwood County Courthouse is getting ready for its close-up. If you notice a little extra activity around the courthouse in Windom on Tuesday, October 6th, there’s a pretty interesting reason why. Representatives from Marvin will be spending much of the day at the courthouse for a professional photoshoot featuring the building’s windows. Cottonwood County replaced the courthouse windows last fall, and following the project, Marvin asked the county for permission to photograph the finished installation for the company’s own advertising and promotional use. What may have originally sounded like a few pictures has turned into quite the production. The photoshoot could run from sunrise to sunset, with crews taking photographs of the courthouse windows from both inside and outside the historic building. In preparation, Marvin is also paying to have the courthouse windows professionally cleaned, inside and out. There will be a couple of temporary changes around the courthouse Tuesday as well. Marvin has requested that Third Avenue along the east side of the courthouse be closed for all or part of the day, and the courthouse’s east parking lot will be closed to employees and the public during the photoshoot. So if you see photographers, equipment and a little unusual activity around the Cottonwood County Courthouse Tuesday, don’t worry. Hollywood hasn’t moved into Windom but one of our local landmarks is apparently ready for its close-up.
