A chapter of southwest Minnesota history that many people may know very little about will be explored next week at BARC in Windom. Historian Dr. Anita Talsma Gaul returns to BARC on Thursday, October 8th, with “The KKK in Southwest Minnesota: The (Not So) Invisible Nation.” During the 1920s, the Ku Klux Klan had a presence in communities across southwest Minnesota. Dr. Gaul will explore where the Klan was active, what was happening in the region at the time, and how this controversial chapter became part of our local history. The presentation begins at 7 p.m. and is free to attend. Before the program, BARC will serve a fundraiser supper from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. For $8, choose a pulled pork or sloppy joe sandwich, along with chips, a cookie and water. It all takes place Thursday, October 8th, at BARC, located at 1012 5th Avenue in Windom.
