Police also responded to a two-vehicle crash on September 23rd at 6th Street and 6th Avenue South. One vehicle was stopped due to traffic congestion when it was struck from behind. Mountain Lake city officials are taking a long-range look at how the city will pay for replacing Street Department equipment in the years ahead. The city’s proposed Street Department Equipment Replacement Plan maps out anticipated replacement dates and costs for major equipment, including trucks, loaders, tractors, mowers and other machinery used by the department. Mountain Lake currently contributes $57,500 each year toward the equipment replacement fund. However, projections included in the September 21 City Council packet show that continuing at that level would eventually leave the fund unable to cover planned equipment purchases.  The plan recommends increasing the city’s annual contribution beginning in 2028 to help keep the replacement fund financially sustainable as equipment ages and replacement costs increase. The long-term schedule extends decades into the future and is designed to help the city anticipate major purchases rather than having the full cost of replacing expensive equipment hit the budget unexpectedly in a single year.  The equipment replacement plan was included as part of the council’s broader discussion of Mountain Lake’s 2027 Capital Improvement Plan and budget planning.

It’s September 25th. This day marks the 23rd year anniversary of my Dad’s passing… It just doesn’t seem possible that it was that long ago. It is also the Anniversary of my Mom and Dad’s wedding day. They were married 49 years he so wanted to make that 50 year milestone but just couldn’t make it. The card he left behind for my mom though… WOWZERS it carried her through 21 more years of Anniversary’s knowing she was ultimately loved, admired and appreciated for a lifetime of togetherness. What a gift… So yeah. September 25th is etched in my heart for all time. If everyone could be so lucky! Just a few more notes I want to give a shout out to Flofitness upstairs. Today is National YogaFit Day. Those ladies and gents that devote their morning afternoon and evening hours to reach that ultimate state of fitness, my hat is off to you! And we are super glad to have Halle and her gang upstairs in our KDOM building.. It’s Hug a Vegetarian Day so I am sending out virtual hugs to my nieces and nephews whom I love in spite of their lack of love for meat! I might mention also that it IS actually National Roadkill Day but that just seems wrong on so many levels. I hope everyone is sporting purple for Platelets Day. It is a personal near and dear cause for me! It’s also National Binge Day so pick your poison whether it be movies, meat, fitness, or lettuce and binge away!
