Windom Police Department reported 106 calls in the week of August 2nd to August 8th. Officers had 16 Directed Patrols, 1 Concern for Welfare, 2 Motorist Assist and 2 Public Assist. Windom Police Officers investigated 1 Suspicious Vehicle, 2 Suspicious People, 1 Theft, 1 Vehicle Tampering, and 1 Fraud. Officers responded to 1 Assault, 1 Juvenile Offender, 1 OFP/HRO Violation and conducted 2 Predatory Offender Checks and 35 Traffic Stops. The 8th Annual MMBA Fire Department Fundraiser is underway at River Bend Liquor! .The Windom Fire Department Relief Association will be the beneficiary for the big raffle of a full pallet of Coors Banquet or Coors Light, that’s 104 cases! Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased from Windom Firefighters or at River Bend Liquor. Also River Bend Liquor will be donating a portion of all sales of Coors Light and Coors Banquet Products through September 11th. All Proceeds benefit the Windom Fire Department Relief Association. The drawing will be held on Sunday, October 11th, at 1 p.m. Also we will be donating a portion of all Coors Light & Coor Banquet Sales from now until September 11th!

Federated Rural Electric is reminding local organizations that the deadline is approaching to apply for funding through its Operation Round Up program. The deadline to apply for the next round of funding is September 18th. Operation Round Up allows Federated members to round up their monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar, with the extra change placed into a trust fund. An independent board then distributes the money to organizations serving Jackson and Martin County communities. Since 1995, the program has awarded more than one million dollars to local organizations, including schools, fire and ambulance departments, senior programs and scholarship programs. Today is Primary Election Day in Minnesota, and voters across the state are heading to the polls. Polls are open from Now until 8 p.m. If you are in line by 8 p.m., you will still be allowed to vote. Remember, this is a primary election, so your ballot may look different depending on where you live and which party’s ballot you choose. The August Primary helps narrow the field of candidates who will appear on the November 3rd General Election ballot. If you’re not sure where you’re supposed to vote or what will be on your ballot, you can find that information at www.mnvotes.gov. And if you’ve been thinking about whether your vote really matters this is your opportunity to make your voice heard. So grab your driver’s license just in case you need it… head to your polling place, and exercise your right to vote.
