The Windom Area School Board will hold a work session Tonight at 5:30 p.m. in the Windom City Council Chambers. The meeting will also be streamed live on the district’s Media SB22 YouTube channel. Board members are expected to consider adding a new 12-month Food Service Cook Manager position to help provide meals for the Soaring Eagles Childcare Center, Bridges Preschool, Adventure Club and the Head Start program. Other action items include approval of the district’s Cardiac Emergency Response Plan, a demonstration and possible purchase of Avigilon surveillance software for school cameras, approval of the middle/high school and elementary student handbooks, awarding the district’s milk and dairy bid for the 2026-2027 school year, and calling the 2026 school board election. The board will also consider several policy updates and receive a summary of the superintendent’s evaluation, along with an informational review of additional district policies.

The Windom Area Health Governing Board of Directors will meet Tonight at 5:30 p.m. in the Large Conference Room. Board members are expected to review and consider approval of the June meeting minutes, receive a Lean process improvement update, and review the hospital’s Tuberculosis Exposure Control Plan. Committee reports will include medical staff credentialing, quality and planning activities, finance, personnel, labor relations, and building and grounds. The board will also consider resignations and terminations, review statistical and financial performance reports, capital acquisition activity, educational assistance applications, and reports on new hires and departmental transfers. Additional agenda items include patient concern and patient safety reports, updates from the Chief Medical Officer and senior management team, informational reports from the City of Windom and Sanford Health Network, along with updates from the Windom Area Health Foundation and Auxiliary. The meeting will conclude with a discussion on a strategic planning session before adjournment.

Murray County Commissioners will Hold Two Public Hearings Tomorrow. The Murray County Board of Commissioners will meet Tuesday July 28th beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Murray County Government Center in Slayton. The agenda includes two public hearings. The first, scheduled for 8:35 a.m., will consider granting the Murray County Economic Development Authority designation as the county’s Local Development Organization and the transfer of funds. A second public hearing at 9:00 a.m. will focus on a tax abatement request from Jaden and Delaney Boerboom. Commissioners will also receive a program update from Southwest Health and Human Services. Other agenda items include ditch bills and a proposed amendment to the county’s accounting policies regarding compensated absences, setting a hearing date for repairs to County Ditch 20 and Judicial Ditch 14, and considering the replacement of a zero-turn mower for the county’s facilities department. The meeting is open to the public and will also be available live online through the Murray County website.

The council is expected to continue discussions regarding the future of the city’s municipal telecommunications utility. The meeting is open to the public.

The event begins with the first call at 1:00 p.m. in the BARC West Gym, located at 1012 5th Avenue in Windom, and is open to all ages. Organizers are encouraging kids to bring their favorite adults, adults to bring their favorite kids, and everyone to invite their friends for an afternoon of fun and friendly competition. The free event is sponsored by MIDCO and will feature prizes for both bingo winners and participants. Concessions will also be available for purchase, with all proceeds benefiting the BARC. Everyone is welcome, and there is no cost to participate.
