The Windom City Council will hold a special meeting Tuesday, May 12, beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the Windom Community Center located at 1750 Cottonwood Lake Drive. The purpose of the meeting is to hear presentations from three companies interested in purchasing the city’s WindomNet telecommunications system. Midco out of South Dakota, Southwest Minnesota Broadband Services in Lakefield and Federated Broadband of Jackson are each expected to present proposals for council review. According to City officials no action to authorize a sale of WindomNet will be taken at Tuesday’s meeting. The session is intended to give council members and the public an opportunity to hear directly from the companies as the city continues evaluating possible future ownership of the municipal broadband system. This meeting is open to the public to listen to the presentations, but there will be no public comment or input at the meeting.  Each business will have 30 minutes to present what they are offering the City of Windom for the Acquisition of WindomNet. Windom residents who would like to share comments or concerns are encouraged to contact their elected officials before or after the meeting or you may reach out to the companies with questions about their service and pricing afterwards if needed. Be proactive and come listen to what type of service, cost, reach, and customer service each company will offer. Tuesday May 12th starting at 4:30pm at the Windom Community Center.
