Deputies responded to 1 Assault, investigated 1 Burglary, 2 Suspicious Activities. 2 Suspicious Persons, 1 OFP/HRO Violation and 1 Missing Person. The Windom Police Department reported 85 calls in the week of March 29thto April 4th. Officers had 15 Directed Patrols, 4 Concerns for Welfare, 2 Dogs at Large, 1 Public Assist, and 1 Trespass. Officers investigated 1 Fraud, 2 Noise Complaints, and responded to 1 Suspicious Activity, 3 Suspicious Vehicles, 1 Terroristic Threat and 30 Traffic Stops. Motorists in Cottonwood County should be aware of an upcoming road closure beginning Monday, April 13. County Road 15, also known as Golf Course Road, just west of County Road 13 or River Road, will be closed to all traffic as crews return to complete final bridge work. According to Cottonwood County Public Works, the project will include rip rap installation, grading, bridge painting, and paving. The closure is expected to last approximately one month, weather permitting. During this time, the bridge will be completely closed, and drivers are asked to follow posted detours and plan alternate routes. Officials appreciate the public’s patience as the project moves into its final stages.

Mt Lake City Council met last night moving forward with several major plans for the summer season and local infrastructure. The council spent a lot of time focusing on the upcoming POW WOW Celebration approving a Mountain Lake Community Partners to hold a raffle at City Park, authorized street closures between June 21st and 23rd to accommodate events such as 3 on 3 basketball tournament, Kiddie Parade and the Grand Parade.  In other business the council  held a discussion on Ordinance #5-26 to establish a 3% local lodging tax on rent at hotels and motels, 95% of this revenue would be dedicated to a tourism bureau to market Mountain Lake as a travel destination. While Well #7 is back online, the council was presented with a report of Well #6 currently facing communication delays that require a new radio fix. The Council also reviewed a recent decision to upgrade the Police Department technology, including an unlimited data plan for body cameras and a new virtual reality training program. The council then authorized to move forward with applying for a DNR Outdoor Recreation Grant to seek further funding for city projects.
