A two-vehicle crash with injuries was reported Saturday afternoon at a rural intersection in Redwood County. According to the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 4:22 p.m. on March 21 to the intersection of County State Aid Highways 24 and 1 for a report of an accident involving injuries. According to the Redwood County Sheriffs report, a 2019 Ford Fiesta hatchback driven by a 65-year-old female from Morgan was traveling with a passenger when the collision occurred. Both occupants sustained minor injuries. The passenger was transported by CentraCare EMS to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of a 2017 BMW 540i sedan , a 29-year-old Loren Ball of Brookings, SD, was not injured. Preliminary information indicates the BMW failed to yield at the four-way stop intersection, leading to the crash. The Ford Fiesta sustained disabling damage, while the BMW had significant front-end damage. The Redwood County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Redwood Falls Fire Department and the Minnesota State Patrol. The incident remains under investigation.

A planning team meeting organized by Emergency Mangement Director Paul Johnson for the update of the Cottonwood County Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) has been scheduled for  Monday, March 30th from 1:00pm to 2:30pm in the Cottonwood County Law Enforcement Center Lower Level.

The anticipation is a brewing!!! Farm 40 Free Giveaway is celebrating its 37th year and you are invited to attend our giveaway event. We will be giving one lucky winner everything needed to farm 40 acres. 25 finalists have been selected and contacted, with the grand prize drawing set to take place live tomorrow, Wednesday, March 25th at the Windom Community Center. The Windom Lions Club is inviting the community to come together for a popular annual tradition this weekend. The Annual Palm Sunday Pancake Feed will take place Sunday, March 29th at the Windom Community Center, located at 1750 Cottonwood Lake Drive. Serving will run from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to enjoy a hearty breakfast featuring pancakes, sausage, and biscuits and gravy, all for a free will donation. Windom Lions Club organizers say the event is not only a great way to gather with friends and neighbors, but also an opportunity to give back. All proceeds from the pancake feed go directly toward supporting local community projects and initiatives led by the Windom Lions Club. Everyone is welcome to attend and show their support while enjoying delicious Pancakes and more on Palm Sunday.
