Officers assisted Mt Lake Ambulance on several calls, initiated several traffic stops, took a report of a possible scam, gave advise of a civil manner, assisted a parent in locating a child and advised a caller on a HRO. Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported 27 calls from February 9th to February 15th. Deputies conducted a traffic stop that turned into a manhunt for a fleeing male passenger that had an active Martin County Warrant. Multiple agencies assisted in the search including Martin County and their K-9 Unit, Nobles and Windom Police Department. The 38 year old male from Sherburn was captured and charged with Fleeing on Foot, and then turned over to Martin County. Deputies also located and arrested a 42-year-old male from Jackson on a Cottonwood County Warrant for Felony Threats of Violence. Jackson Fire Department , Jackson Ambulance and MN Energy were paged and on scene for approximately 1.5 hours for a carbon monoxide alarm activation. Deputies responded to two separate Domestic Disburbances, conducted several welfare checks, Deputies investigated a report of theft, recovered a stolen vehicle which remains under investigation and received a report of a TikTok scam. The Heron Lake Fire Department and Heron Lake Ambulance were paged to a report of a vehicle fire on Highway 60 near Wilder and responded to a report of someone shining a green laser at an aircraft at 33,000 feet on the north edge of Jackson. The Cottonwood County Board of Commissioners met Tuesday, February 17th, approving a number of resolutions, purchases, and personnel actions. Among the items approved was a state quote from Alpha Wireless for the purchase of two APX6500 mobile radios at a cost of $10,491.60. The board adopted Resolution 26-02-17, approving a Local Bridge Replacement Program Grant Agreement under SAP Number 017-605-028. Commissioners also approved an ingress and egress easement agreement for landowners south of parcels being purchased by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. In addition, they adopted Resolution 26-02-17B, authorizing the sale of Lots 1 through 4 in Section 36 of Ann Township to the DNR. Commissioners authorized advertising for seven seasonal Public Works positions for the 2026 summer season, along with a part-time Landfill Scale Operator position. The board also adopted Resolution 26-02-17A, authorizing the creation of a Joint Airport Zoning Board and appointing Commissioners Maras and Stevens as representatives. There was no decision made regarding the proposed Deer Hunting Firearms Ordinance. That issue will return for discussion at a future meeting. Commissioners approved February warrants totaling $230,479.93.

I’m thinking I am going to enjoy my day immensely today… Why, you ask? Well… It is National Cherry Pie Day AND National Muffin Day… I think I have my meal plan done for the day! AND to top that off there is a reason to put on those old sweats and favorite old t- shirt.. It is National Comfy Day! I am figuring that is because that way you can eat more pie without worrying about uncomfortable pants! Oh I kinda think this Love your pet day is an EVERY DAY thing, but whilst lounging comfortably on my couch eating my muffins and pie I plan on telling my crazy Otis that he is loved an extra time!
