Windom Police Department had a call on the 16th at approximately 4:42pm from a Windom resident that had one of her packages stolen from her mailbox and another stolen from her front door in the 1900 block of 1st Ave. The items were valued at approximately $100. A hit and run was reported on the 17th at the intersection of Highway 60 and Toro. Report states a 2015 Honda CR-V Sport Utility Sport Vehicle was traveling south on Highway 71 coming to the stop sign on Hwy 60/71N. A Black Truck came from behind and collided with the Honda causing damage to rear end and then left the scene.  At 7:50pm an officer witnessed a female walking out of business displaying poor balance and stumbling. The female got into her vehicle and did not move for an extended period of time. The officer approached the vehicle and after investigation, and performing field sobriety tests an arrest was made of a 42-year-old female from Wilmar for Driving While Intoxicated. The female was issued a Misdemeanor citation and was released when she was sober.

The Windom Theater is once again getting ready for a favorite community tradition the annual Windom Area Merchant Matinees. The event offers free holiday movies for local families on Saturdays and Sundays at 1 p.m., running for four weeks from Thanksgiving weekend through December 20th.

The Theater Board is inviting area businesses to help sponsor the matinees. Merchant sponsorships are tax-deductible and available at several levels — $100, $150, and $250  with sponsors recognized on posters and mentioned on KDOM Radio. Interested Businesses are asked to send their donations and checks made payable to the Windom Theater and mailed to 926 4th Avenue, Windom, Minnesota, 56101. The Windom Theater board says these donations help keep the theater a positive part of the community and for some kids, the free merchant matinees are the only movies they’ll see in the theater all year. For more information, you can contact Buckwheat Johnson, Tanya Smith, or Elaine Tasler with the Windom Theater Board.
