Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported 41 calls from August 27th to September 4th. Deputies assisted Jackson and Heron Lake Ambulance on several calls, conducted several traffic stops, responded to an Assault at a business in Heron Lake, 3 Domestic Disturbances, 5 Disturbances in Jackson, a report of harassment and a report of child abuse. Deputies conducted 3 welfare checks and responded to 3 burglary calls in Jackson. Dispatch transferred a 911 report to the MN DNR of an injured bald eagle in Sioux Valley Township. The Windom Police Department submitted their August 2025 Monthly Crime Report. They had 11 Adult Arrests, 1 Juvenile Arrest and served 2 Warrants with a total of 439 Calls for Service for the month. There were 7 Accidents with 3 injuries and 5 DUI’s. Windom Police Officers issued a total of 130 Traffic Violations and Warnings for the month of August. The Des Moines Valley Health and Human Services Board will meet on Tuesday, September 9th at 9 a.m. at the Cottonwood County Law Enforcement Center in Windom. Highlights on the agenda include the presentation of the 2024 audit findings by Abdo Eick & Meyers, along with a presentation from the Southwest Minnesota Private Industry Council. Action items scheduled include approval of a professional services agreement with Meghan Kelley Mohs, a programming agreement with A Peace of My Mind, and the 2026 employee health insurance

The Cottonwood County Board of Commissioners will hold a work session on Tuesday, September 9th, at 11 a.m. at the Cottonwood County Courthouse in Windom. Commissioners will review the proposed budget for 2026 and hear updates on county buildings. No official action is expected to be taken during the work session.

The Windom Planning Commission will meet on Tuesday, September 9th at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at Windom City Hall. On the agenda is the election of a chairman to fill a vacancy, and a public hearing. The public hearing will focus on a variance request for a fence on a corner lot at 1605 Sixth Avenue. The commission will also review City Code Section 90.55, along with other unfinished and new business. Time will be given for commission member comments, concerns, and suggestions before the meeting adjourns.
