With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Kathryn L. Voelker on July 23, 2025. Kathryn left this world as she lived- bravely and selflessly – while assisting her son, an act that speaks volumes about her boundless love and courage.
Kathy was born on April 5, 1955, to Herbert and Alice (Zahorsky) Krueger, in Lakefield, Minnesota. She grew up on a farm in rural Lakefield and attended Lakefield High School, graduating in the Class of 1973. On February 12, 1977, Kathryn married the love of her life, Paul Voelker, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in rural Lakefield. She was a devoted mother of three children, Paul, Melissa and Jamie. Kathryn passed along her legacy of kindness, warmth, and unending support to everyone she met. To her, family was the melody of life, and her world revolved around those she loved most. She found her greatest joy in the laughter and wonder of her grandchildren, delighting in every moment spent with them.
Kathryn’s soul was nourished by life’s simple pleasures. She treasured quiet evenings on her porch, where the soft summer breeze and golden light offered her peace. Songs from her collection of wind chimes danced through the air, a gentle chorus that filled her days with beauty and tranquility.
She was a beacon of comfort and wisdom, always ready with a listening ear or a gentle word. Her kindness radiated to all who knew her, and her spirit will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the many lives she touched.
Kathryn leaves behind a loving family and community that mourns her loss while celebrating her life. The memory of her laughter, her strength, and her unwavering love will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Paul Voelker of Windom, Melissa (Dean) Honken of Pipestone, and Jamie Voelker of Windom; one sister, Carole Krueger of Windom; one brother, Lyle (Linda) Krueger of Windom; and her grandchildren, Emilia, Evelyn, Edith, Jace, Berklee, Kaedryn, Paetyn and Everlee; as well as other relatives and friends.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Alice Krueger; her husband, Paul Voelker; two sisters, Helen Krueger and Linda Miller; and two brothers, Wayne Krueger and David Krueger.
As we gather to honor and remember Kathryn, may we find solace in the soft music of wind chimes and the enduring bonds of family she so dearly cherished. Rest in peace, Kathryn. Your legacy of love lives on.
