Mountain Lake Police Department reported 30 calls from July 21st to July 27th. Officers conducted several traffic stops, handled a couple Dogs at Large, responded to a couple concerns for welfare, took reports of scams and fraud and assisted the Sheriff’s Office on call involving shots fired in residential area in Storden. Windom Police Department reported on the 27th at approximately 3:10pm an officer received a report of a theft of a Alumacraft Motorcycle Trailer that was parked at 8th Street and Hale Place. The trailer was silver in color with an estimated value of $3,000. The owner reported that it was sitting at his brother’s property and was last seen on the 7th of June and stated no one had borrowed it.

The Cottonwood County 4-H Food Stand is calling on local gardeners to help stock their kitchen with fresh produce during fair week. If you have extra vegetables from your garden, they’d love your donation! Donations can be dropped off at the Northwest kitchen door of the 4-H Food Stand from Tuesday, August 5 through Saturday morning, August 9. They’re especially in need of: cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, green beans, beets, sweet corn, carrots, and onions. Your support helps feed fairgoers and supports local 4-H youth, thank you for your generosity!

There are only two weeks left for the Windom Area School District’s Free Summer Lunch Program. The program offers free meals to all kids 18 and younger, as well as students with disabilities who are over 18. Summer meals are served weekdays Monday through Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at two locations: the Windom Area Elementary School Cafeteria and the Highland Early Childhood Center. The final day for meals is Friday, August 15. Please note: No meals will be served on Monday, August 12. Don’t miss this opportunity for a free, nutritious lunch before summer ends!
