Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported 33 calls from June 16th to June 22nd. Deputies responded to calls concerning harassment, a disturbance, someone making threats to another person and for a verbal domestic disturbance all in Jackson. Deputies also took two separate reports of cars getting keyed two separate calls concerning unlawful entry to parked vehicles. Deputies responded to a report of three cars drag racing on CR 24 south of the Heron Lake Bio Energy plant.  One of the vehicles spun out and entered the ditch but was able to drive out on its own.  All three vehicles were located.  Citations for Reckless Driving were issued. A full listing of all calls for the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department is available by clicking link below.

The Windom Police Department reported 91 calls in the week of June 15th to June 21st. Officers responded to 2 Calls for Welfare, handled 3 Citizen Complaints, took 4 Driving Complaints, dealt with 3 Harassment calls, and conducted 26 Traffic Stops. The Windom City Council will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, June 24th, at 5 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. On the agenda: a network services agreement for AMI metering with Tantalus, the engagement of a bankruptcy attorney related to HyLife Foods, and a public hearing on a proposed business subsidy for Premium Iowa Pork. The council will also review loan and subsidy documents and consider a resolution approving a loan agreement and related paperwork with Premium Iowa Pork. Additionally, the council will discuss MnDOT’s preliminary design concept for a proposed Highway 60/71 roundabout. Just a reminder that City Council Meetings are open to the public.

Minnesota State Patrol reported a single vehicle accident injuring three men from Worthington. According to the report, On the 22nd at 7:11pm a 2025 Honda CR-V was Eastbound on Interstate 90 when the vehicle left the roadway near mile marker 34 and rolled. The driver a 21-year-old male along with his two passengers were all transported to the Worthington Hospital with what was thought to be non-life-threatening injuries. All three were wearing seatbelts and road conditions were dry. Outside agencies assisting were Nobles County Sheriff and Adrian EMS.

Cottonwood County 4-H is hosting an Art in Nature Day Camp on July 9th from 1:30pm-3:30pm at the Windom School Environmental Center. This fun afternoon is FREE to youth in Grades Kindergarten to 13. They are asking that youth that are in grades Kindergarten or 1st grade to have an older sibling or parent accompany them. This day camp will allow you to learn about nature-based art. Participants will take Polaroid Photos of their creations and make a wall hanging of them. Again this is open to all youth. Windom Methodist Church will be hosting the Dinner Table tonight from 5:30-6:30pm at the Methodist Church located at 974 Sixth Street. This is a community outreach program and everyone is invited. There is no cost and tonight they will be serving pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, chips and dessert bars. If you have questions please call Windom Methodist Church at 507-831-3284.

The Friends of the Library made a substantial donation to the Windom Public Library. The donation, totaling $1,688.28, will be used to purchase STEM learning materials and support the library’s summer reading program. The donation was formally accepted by the Windom City Council at their meeting on the 17th in accordance with Minnesota State Statute, which requires the council to approve such gifts by resolution.
