The murder trial of No Name Given Happy, a man from San Diego, California, continues in Cottonwood County District Court. Happy faces six felony charges, including second-degree murder with intent, second-degree murder without intent while committing a felony, second-degree assault, and threats of violence. The charges stem from a deadly altercation on New Year’s Eve at the Phat Pheasant Bar in Windom. On Thursday, June 12th, the State of Minnesota rested its case after days of testimony, video evidence, and expert analysis. Before court adjourned, Happy told the judge he plans to take the stand in his own defense. The defense begins presenting its case today. The trial is now in week two of what was expected to be a two-week process.

Riverfest wrapped up Sunday in Windom, and despite a few hiccups, this year’s celebration will go down as one to remember. It was a week filled with music, food, fireworks, and fun, with just enough unexpected moments to make it memorable. While Saturday’s parade marched on even after a gullywasher of rain. The weather didn’t stop the community; people still came out in full force and dare I coin the phrase a good time was had by all! KDOM’s Inside Looking Out Pictures are posted on Facebook so be sure to go take a gander and Like or Love your favorites. Voting goes until Thursday June 19th at 5pm. The firework display that was delayed till Saturday was a TOTAL advantage in my book. The skies were cloudy, but the fireworks took on a whole new look against them. They were absolutely beautiful. I am a believer that everything happens for a reason. We can’t always control the situations, but we can control how we roll with punches. Great lesson in life that when the unexpected happens make lemonade! Or something like that! Bahahahaha… We gave away some cold hard cash and had a blast chatting with different members of the community. This was our first year facing Riverfest without the grandkids. We actually didn’t have to go hunt turtles and the verdict is still out as to if I am okay with that or not. This change though, brought a whole new perspective, and a chance to take it all in. Thanks to the Riverfest Committee, The Windom Chamber, The CVB, and the countless volunteers that made this a great celebration. The Party continues in Mountain Lake for Pow Wow. The Midway starts today and the parade is tonight! Mountain Lake has a TON of fun activities and good foods available. Check out KDOM’s Community Calendar at windomradio.com for all the details on more fun and entertaining upcoming celebrations!
