It’s Cinco de Mayo! Do you know why this day is celebrated? Cinco de Mayo celebrates Mexico’s victory over France at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. While it is celebrated more in the U.S. than in Mexico, it commemorates the Battle of Puebla and Mexican heritage. Cinco de mayo is not the same as Mexican Independence Day, which is celebrated on September 16th.

The other half of the court will be designated for four-square and hopscotch, providing a variety of play options for kids of all ages. Meanwhile, a proposal to add a pickleball court was discussed in prior meetings but ultimately not approved. Construction on the new basketball court is expected to begin later this year.
