Officer conducted several traffic stops, assisted other agencies with location of people and property, intervened in a domestic verbal dispute, and are currently investigating an assault. Windom Police Department reported a hit and run on the 28th between the hours of Midnight to 10am in the Post Office back lot. A 2008 Toyota Prius Hatchback was parked in the post office lot and was sideswiped leaving a scrape along the rear driver’s side fender by an unknown vehicle. An officer was dispatched at 5:25pm to the 90th block of 10th Street for a report of an assault. Upon arrival the officer learned an adult male had assaulted a family or household member within 10years of the first of any combination of two or more previous qualified domestic violence-related offense convictions. After investigation, an arrest was made of the 39-year-old male from Windom for possible Felony Domestic Assault, pending review by the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. On the 30th at 1:06am while patrolling on Highway 60 an officer ran plates which came back to the registered owner with a warrant. After confirming said warrant with Dakota County and seeing that the vehicle and person driving matched the description of the registered owner the officer initiated a traffic stop. After investigation, an arrest was made of the 43-year-old Windom Male for a Dakota County Warrant for Theft.

Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office reported on the 25th a deputy was contacted by the Department of Natural Resources officer to report a stolen trail camera. Estimated value is $1,152.43 camera was purchased in 2012. On the 26th at approximately 10:17am a deputy took a report of theft of gasoline from an employees vehicle parked at Miller Sellner. Security cameras showed a Chevy pickup truck dark gray in color siphoning gas out of a 1998 Bronze GMC Sierra. Value of gasoline is approximately $30. This matter remains under investigation.
