If you are seeing giant white X marks along Interstate 90 this spring, don’t panic. The Minnesota Department of Transportation is conducting aerial mapping in the Southwest area of the State. The mapping will create a record of existing infrastructure and landscape along, and adjacent to, MnDOT right of way for transportation planning and operations.  This work must be conducted before the tree’s leaf out. Work is scheduled, weather permitting from Beaver Creek to Luverne and from Adrian to Rushmore.  MnDOT crews will paint large white “X” targets on paved road surfaces and place fabric “X” targets on unpaved surfaces and outside of public right of way. A survey crew then records the coordinate position and elevation of these targets and provides that information to the aerial photography company. The targets are temporary and will be removed when the photography is completed. Landowners in affected areas should have received a letter from the local MnDOT office with detailed information about the targets.  MnDOT requests that landowners not remove or disturb the targets until the photography is completed. If a target must be moved, please contact MnDOT District 7 survey staff at 507-514-1932 or by email to justin.kraus@state.mn.us

So it’s a real thing… There you are driving down the street in your car, or sitting in your office getting lost in a song, or even out in the fields on your tractor listening to the Farm Report and BAM you lost the signal to the Radio… BELIEVE us when we tell you it is as if not more maddening to us than you! BUT truly there is nothing we can do about it… Have you ever heard about Sun Outages or Sun Fades? It is a real thing. The cause? The sun, will affect satellite transmissions each Fall and Spring during the Equinox when it comes into direct alignment with the satellite and earth receiving antennas. It’s not just KDOM that experiences this, Feeds on all satellites are affected. Outages can happen from 30 secs upto approximately 8 minutes. Degrees of signal loss across the world vary from station to station depending on geographical locations. So when we are all applauding the coming of the sun, keep in mind with every positive sun beam comes a little dead air. We just want you to know that it is a Mother Nature thing and we welcome the Sun and appreciate your patience.

Everythng that I am seeing says that it is supposed to be in the 80’s today! If there was nothing else to celebrate I would celebrate the warmth of the sun! Today though has some pretty crazy things to try to achieve… It is National Something on a Stick… So corndogs for dinner will do the trick or if you want to get more fancy make kabobs those are amazing especially if you put large chunks of pineapple on them. It’s respect your cat day, I’m more of a dog person but isn’t everyday to a cat a day to respect them??? It’s also National Black Forest Cake Day. I’ve never been able to create the beautiful outside with the cherries dripping off, but I have attempted to make before and you know what you can STILL eat a Black Forest Cake in a bowl even if it is crumbled and gooey… It is actually delicious. The last but not least is National Hot Tub day. Watching the sunrise or set in a hot tub with a favorite beverage listening to nature around you is truly a great way to celebrate the day!!!
