Jackson County Sheriff’s Department reported 27 Calls for March 5th to March 7th. On the 5th Deputies assisted other agencies and responded to many accidents due to weather conditions. A Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) deputy conducted an evaluation for the MN State Patrol on a motorist who was arrested on MN 60 at Heron Lake after their vehicle went in the ditch. The driver was subsequently arrested for DUI – Controlled Substance. On the 6th A deputy responded to a report of a Harassment Restraining Order violation in Heron Lake. After investigating, a 66-year-old male from Heron Lake was arrested for Violation of an HRO. On the 7th Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance. The Windom Police Department reported on the 6th at approximately 2:40pm, an officer was requested to pick up a 24-year-old female from the Felony Probation Office for a Probation Violation Warrant. The female resisted arrest. Once taken into custody, the female was taken to the hospital and then transferred to jail on a probation violation. Charges are also being reviewed for 4th Degree Assault on a Peace Officer, pending review by the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

The power outage that was planned from the Windom Electric Department to test the new generators on the 16th has been postponed. The Public will be notified when and if a new date is necessary.

The Windom Planning Commission will be meeting on Tuesday, March 11th at 7pm. The agenda calls for three Public Hearings to begin the meeting. Two on Zoning Applications for Conditional Use Permit for a Short-term Rental Property on Douglas Street and an Addition of Fill Applicant: City of Windom-Island Park- Proposed Permanent Berm. The 3rd Hearing is for the proposed New City Code Section 120.01-120.20- Cannabis and Hemp Businesses.

The Des Moines Valley Health and Human Services Board Meeting will be held on Thursday, March 13th at 9:00 am in the Jackson County Government West Conference Room located at 407 5th Street, Jackson.
