Officers responded to several 911 call hangups, several animal calls and investigated possible domestic and child abuse calls. Windom Police Department reported on the 25th at approximately 3:43pm Officers were called to the 1100 block of 8th Ave for an ongoing disturbance regarding a child custody matter. After investigation, an arrest was made of a 29-year-old Windom male for 3rd Degree Driving While Impaired, one Aggravating Factor, for the suspect driving to the residence while Under the Influence. This case is pending review by the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Also on the 25th at 3:55pm at 94 9th Street officers covered a two vehicle non injury accident. Two vehicles backing out of driveways at the same time on opposite sides of the street collided in the middle of the road. Minor damage to both vehicles.

The Windom Area Health Foundation was established in 2002 with a mission of providing charitable support for the medical and educational programs of Windom Area Health, apart from normal operating expenses. In keeping with this mission, the Windom Area Health Foundation is offering One-$5,000, Two-$2,500 and Three- $1,000 scholarships to students who are interested in pursuing a career in a healthcare field. Scholarships are awarded through a competitive process to cover the cost of eligible school-related expenses. Since 2007, 127 scholarships have been awarded to local students, many of whom are employed in this region. Scholarships are awarded based on leadership, character, integrity, community service, and a commitment to following a course of study relevant to healthcare.
