Windom Police Department reported on the 5th at 12:44am an officer initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Highway 60 and County Road 2 and performed Field Sobriety Tests. The 45-year-old woman from Belview Minnesota admitted to drinking and to taking pills. After investigation the woman was arrested for DWI, pending BCA urine test results. The female was released when she became sober. Windom Police Department reported on the 7th at approximately 854pm an officer observed a vehicle driving suspiciously by the intersection of Langley and 4th Ave. The officer initiated a traffic stop and after investigation, an arrest was made of a 43-year-old Windom Female for 4th Degree DWI, pending results of the urine test. On the 8th at 12:02pm an officer was dispatched to the Windom Liquor Store for a driving complaint and a possible intoxicated person. While in route, the officer observed the vehicle driving on the 900 block of 4th Ave. The officer initiated a traffic stop on 10th Street and 6th Ave. After investigation, an arrest was made of a 71-year-old Windom Female for 2nd degree DWI for having 2 or more aggravating factors present and a prior DWI conviction within the past 10years, pending review by the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. A two vehicle non-injury accident occurred at 2:09pm at 858 4th Ave. Also, on the 8th at 5:48pm a 2004 Saturn Vue had driven off the road on Highway 60 near O’Riley’s, crashed into trees, sustaining severe damage. According to the report, the driver was transported to the hospital. While obtaining the necessary information the officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana, along with the driver having slurred speech, and bloodshot eyes. After receiving necessary medical care, the 35-year-old female of Fairmont was placed under arrest for possible Driving While Impaired charges, pending BCA Blood Test results.

A 55+ Defensive Driver Training Session will be held on March 31st from 12:30 to 4:30pm in Windom at the Highland Building located at 68 10th Street. You can register for a four or 8-hour Defensive Driving Course by calling Caitlyn at 507-831-6910 ext 513. This course will be taught by Kathy Pederson. Participants will receive a certificate after attending all portions of the class they registered for. According to State Farm Insurance Agent, Kelsey Fossing,  “it’s good for refining driving skills, becoming a safer driver, and potentially getting a discount on your car insurance!”
