The Premium Iowa Pork Plant in Windom opened production on January 30th according to President Dan Paquin. Premium Iowa Pork also known as PIP is located in Windom’s north edge of town and purchased the old HighLife Plant. Paquin stated there is a big difference in the two businesses,
Paquin: “The key is that it was a harvest meat plant before it is now a process meat plant Grinds, Smokehouses, and Case Ready and we renovated about 65% of the plant and have 35% more we can expand into.”
Paquin went onto say that with each opening phase they will see growth in the number of employees they will have,
Paquin: “we think there will be about 125 once we get through all the phases.”
Paquin went onto say that they are thinking by early Spring this year they will be in full production mode and are still taking applications for employment. If you are interested in obtaining an application for management, clerical, or floor positions, Paquin encourages potential applicants to,
Paquin: “Come over to our office and come in and pick up an application. Just come out to the plant.”
It’s nice to see movement out on the edge of town and it seems as though PIP is a company that has a good reputation and strong record for retaining and employing people. When I asked Paquin if there was anything else that he would like the community to know he replied with,
Paquin: “we’re the leading manufacturer of free antibiotic pork in the United States, and we’re looking forward to growing this operation in the Windom area. And I would say, quite frankly, the city of Windom and all the officials, everything has been great to us through the renovation process, which has been going on for little over a year.”
Welcome to Windom, Premium Iowa Pork, we look forward to seeing you become an interquel part of the community.
