Windom Area Schools sent out a press release on Friday updating the community on the survey and providing feedback on the Arts and Athletic Projects presented to enhance the facility. The full Press Release is posted on link below and on our Facebook Page. According to Superintendent Jamie Frank the survey results were very helpful in guiding the district in making decisions going forward. The survey was comprised of 60% of parents and 37% of non-parents in favor of the project. There is good support for the plan, but adjustments needed to be made to bring overall cost down, Frank said. Those adjustments are to decrease the total referendum from $35M to $27.5, which is a 20% decrease. Prioritizing was a key issue and Varsity softball, and baseball fields were the lowest. So both will remain playing at Island Park and the Windom Recreation Center. There were budget adjustments made to the Fine Arts Center also. According to Frank, The School Board took action on Thursday night to approve this plan and submit the Review and Comment to the MN Department of Education for approval.

The Reindeer Races are in full swing and today we would like to feature today’s Race Sponsor, Enspired, located at 960 4th Avenue on the square in beautiful downtown Windom. Enspired is locally owned and operated by Hilary Mathis and they opened their doors in 2011. Enspired is an eclectic boutique that features handmade and one-of-a-kind items. Enspired sets itself apart from other stores with their Natural remedies, home décor, small batch hand poured soy candles, lotions, soaps, clothing, and baby gifts. Basically, they have everything you never knew you wanted. When you walk into the store you can feel the groovy vibe and it just captures your being. This local hometown boutique has two employees and do a lot of on-line orders and reach out to many individuals across the nation with their social media presence. You can find what they have and how to order on their website at www.liveenspired.com or you can follow them on Facebook at Enspired. I know for a fact that you won’t find a SGnomie that has as much character as Enspired gives them. When my kids come to visit, it is a must that they stop as they put it, “That funky store that just has so many unique, fun and interesting smells and feels.” That is truly the best way to describe what Hilary has going on. Shopping online is a great service but I kind of feel sorry for the people that never have the opportunity to come and actually get the whole experience of Enspired. Customer service is a high priority and Hilary, and staff take time to talk but give you the chance to enjoy the vibe. Merchandise on Hilary’s shelves come from talented and crafty individuals from all walks of life and Hilary says she is proud to be a part of something that as she put it, “with every purchase made with Enspired, supports so many more than the people who work at and sell at Enspired. They are so grateful to be apart of the local economy so they can give back in ways they wouldn’t be able to otherwise. Hilary is a SHOP LOCAL maniac and loves to be a part of the community and will try anything once if it helps someone. The natural remedies and handmade goods cannot be compared to anything that is mass made, and you will always find friendly and helpful service.
Today’s Reindeer Races are made possible by Enspired in Windom!
