Windom Police Department reported on the 8th at 9:56am an officer was on patrol on Redding Ave at the intersection of 6th Street when he observed a vehicle traveling east and ran the MN plate which showed the registered owner held a drivers license status of Canceled-Inimical to public safety. The officer initiated a traffic stop and after investigation, an arrest was made of a 69-year-old Windom male for DAC-IPS, a Gross Misdemeanor, along with Motor Vehicle Registration Violation, Fail to Provide Proof of Insurance pending review by the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. The male was booked and released. At 11:52am an officer spoke with a Windom female who reported an incident the night prior where her husband and her were arguing and she was hurt by him. The Officer noted injury to left ring finger and pointer finger, that were taped together, which resulted from her husband. She also stated that she was also assaulted with a spatula. After investigation, an arrest was made of a 69-year-old Windom male for Domestic Assault, possible 2nd Degree. After review by the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office the male was charged with Misdemeanor Domestic Assault.

Des Moines Valley Health and Human Services Board will be Meeting Thursday, December 12th at 9:00 am at the Cottonwood County Law Enforcement Center in Windom.

The Windom Area School Board will be holding a special meeting in the Windom City Council Chambers on December 12th at 6:30pm. The agenda will include the Community Survey Results presented by Daren Sievers with School Perception, action on the FEMA BRIC Application, and to review options for the Arts and Athletics Facility Project as Determined by the Buildings and Grounds Committee based on Community Survey Results. The Buildings and Grounds Committee has worked with architects from Wold, Mammoth, and Krause Anderson a construction management firm to determine the appropriate course of action based on feedback from the community survey. The committee will be presenting options for board discussion and possible approval.

Good Samaritan Society in Mountain Lake is once again erecting their Giving Tree. According to Administrator, Anne Reece, living an active life is vital. The Staff at Good Samaritan Society Mountain Lake, works to ensure that each resident is able to participate in activities of their choosing, including ventures outside of the nursing home as well as enjoying entertainment within the facility. Reece stated that outings and entertainment are memories that stay in the hearts and minds of the residents. The Giving Tree is a yearly project that Good Samaritan Mt Lake believes in. This year, all proceeds for the Giving Tree will be donated to their Care Enhancement Fund. This year’s ornament is a sparkly wooden white snowflake ornament stating “Just Think – God compares you to no one else; you are one of a kind”

If you are interested in sponsoring an ornament this year to help the residents experience full and healthy activities and keep their lives as active as possible even when health may be declining, consider purchasing one of the rich wooden ornaments. Your gift no matter the size, will help residents experience living to the fullest with Love, Compassion, Peace and Vitality.

Ornaments will be placed on the tree for the Season and will be returned to you for a keepsake. Please feel free to include the name of your loved one and they will be memorialized or honored with a tagged Christmas Ornament on the Giving Tree. White Tags are for donations $15-$24. Red Tags are $25-$49 and Silver Tags are $50 and up. You have your choice to be recognized or not.
