Windom Police Department reported a Disturbance on the 9th at approximately 8pm. Officers were called to a disturbance when a caller ran into McDonald’s asking staff to call 911. There was an altercation involving male parties from Windom threatening each other with weapons. After review from the Prosecuting Attorney a 62-year-old male from Windom was charged with 2nd Degree Assault, a Felony, for chasing after another male with a machete and swinging the machete into the railing of the steps at the victim’s residence.

Mountain Lake Public School Board will be meeting tonight at 5:30pm at the Mt Lake School in room 101.

Mt Lake City Council will be meeting TONIGHT at 5:45pm in the Mt Lake City Hall.

The Jeffers City Council met on the 9th. Clerk Sharon Goeman presented the proposed budget for 2025 and the council approved as presented. The proposed levy for 2025 was discussed. After discussion a motion to increase the levy by 4% for a total of $214,726 was passed with a 4 Aye and 1 Nay vote. It was discussed and decided that the Clerk will send a fine to a resident for dogs running at large.

The Red Rock Central School District Board of Education will be meeting Wednesday, September 18th at 5pm in Lamberton.

FEMA and State Disaster Recovery Centers have opened in Windom at the Cottonwood County Office Building located at 41385 US Highway 71. There will be Specialists from FEMA, the State of Minnesota and the U.S. Small Business Administration to help those affected by the Flood Disaster apply for Federal Disaster Assistance, Upload Documents, answer questions and inform people of other types of assistance that may be available to them. This Recovery Center will be open until Friday September 27th, which is the deadline to apply with FEMA. The Center will be available Monday through Friday 9am to 6:30pm and Saturday’s 9am to 4pm. They will be closed on Sundays. To apply for FEMA assistance, you can come to the Disaster Recovery Center or go online at www.DisasterAssistance.org Use the FEMA app on your phone or call 800-621-3362.
