Windom Police Department reported on the 21st at 9:04 pm officers were called to Kwik Trip on Highway 60/71 south for a bomb threat written on the wall in the men’s bathroom stall. Officers searched the building for any signs or suspicious objects. Nothing was located. The officers also went through camera recordings and did not observe anything suspicious. This matter remains under investigation. On the 24th at 12:26am an officer was on patrol on Highway 60 when he observed a vehicle on 3rd Ave by Godfathers to have only one working license plate and a suspended object hanging from the mirror. A traffic stop was initiated and the officer could smell the odor of an alcohol beverage. After investigation, a Lakefield male was found to have an “Alcohol Restriction on his Drivers License”. There was no law enforcement action taken at this time as the driver was under the legal limit, however, the case has been forwarded to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review due to the restriction on his driver’s license.  On the 25th at 9:39pm officers were called to the 800 block of Redding Ave for a damage to property call. the owner of a 2015 Ford Explorer reported that her vehicles door handle was broken off and there was damage to the rubber seal between the front and rear drivers side door. The Reporting Party could not open the driver’s door from the outside. This matter is under investigation and the damage estimate at this time is unknown.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported on the 26th they had 10 calls Deputies conducted 5 traffic stops with all being issued a citations. Deputies assisted Lakefield Police Department with a Domestic Disturbance and conducted a civil standby to keep the peace during an exchange of property. Deputies responded to a report from the Courthouse Staff of a lot of arguing amongst a group of people inside. After investigation the deputies discovered the arguing involved people in an upcoming Hearing. A full listing of all calls is available by clicking link below.

A PUBLIC HEARING concerning the Crypto Mining Company by Revolve Labs who is requesting a Conditional Use Permit for commercial structure within Shoreland on the parcel property described as: Part of the Northwest Quarter of Section 30, Township 105 N, Range 35 W, Lakeside Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota will be THURSDAY AUGUST 29th at 12:30pm at the BARC Library located at 1012 5th Ave Windom.  The Public is welcome to join the Cottonwood County Planning Commission as they present information. Come participate and learn and speak your opinions when the portion is open to the public. It is hoped that this will follow suit of being RESPECTFUL and ORDERLY… Cottonwood County Residents this is your opportunity to learn exactly what is being proposed and learn more about the facts that will ultimately be taken to the Cottonwood County Commissioners for their decision. The Jeffers City Council met on the 26th. Jeffers Fire Chief, Jed Rhubee gave a presentation on the Torpedo Nozzle requested for purchase. The Council approved purchasing this nozzle at the cost of $3,487. The Council also approved a building permit for a garage and will be submitting a workers comp claim for an employee. The Council agreed to impose a fine on a resident for continuously letting her dogs run free.
