FEMA and State officials were in Windom doing Preliminary Damage Assessment on private property damage for 3 days in the past week. According to Windom EDA Director, Tiffany Lamb, over 200 Windom homes were assessed, and grateful to all residents who shared their flooding and damage stories with officials. Lamb went onto say, “Currently, no additional visits are planned.” Lamb said, they do not yet have any indication on the outcome of this process. Several Counties are working with the State to gain access to the FEMA Individual Assistance program, meaning FEMA and State officials have a lot of ground to cover Statewide. Lamb said they are grateful to have been one of the very first Counties to receive a Preliminary Damage Assessment, this gives us the opportunity to show the severity of local damage early in the process which would not have been possible without the large response of local homeowners and business owners to our local damage assessments. Lamb wanted to thank the Windom community for working together on this process. Lamb went onto say as new information becomes available, County and City officials will continue to make updates through local press and social media.
