Windom City Council met on Tuesday. Again great turn and voiced opinions for the public hearing concerning the MnDOT proposed 2025 project. A vote will be made at the June 18th Meeting. In other business, the Council awarded the bid for the Airport 2024 Crack Seal Project Resolution to Fahnder Asphalt Sealers in the amount of $132, 290 which the City’s portion will be 5% which equals $6,614.50. The First Reading Ordinance No 199, 2nd Series – Short Term Rental Properties was held.  This would require a conditional use permit for short term rental such as people using Airbnb or VRBO type services to rent out their houses in Windom for short term time periods.   The city has an ordinance for long term rents but nothing in place for short term.  This will help have some oversight to short term rentals. A Resolution Designating the 2024 Filing Period for the City Election will be July 30th to August 13th for seats open of Mayor, and Council Persons in Ward 1 and Ward 2.  There was discussion on the MnDOT Carbon Reduction Grant that was applied for by the City to hopefully help pay for our portion of the street light replacement project.  Tiffany Lamb with the EDA heard earlier this week that Windom was approved for the grant funding.  The Council then learned there was a stipulation by MnDOT that the funding was available only IF the 3 lane project was approved.  It was agreed by the council to further look into this funding grant for more information. The Council then agreed to have the resolution at the next meeting to make a recommendation to MnDOT that Hwy 60 by Kwik Trip at the end of town be returned to its original 4 lane status.
