Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported 38 calls from May 17th to May 23rd. Deputies assisted other agencies with 6 calls, including 2 medical calls, a runaway juvenile and broken power line poles and low hanging wires. Deputies responded to three disturbances in Jackson and four domestic disturbances. One Domestic Call was in Heron Lake Township where the caller reported being bitten in the face by a female and that the female also intentionally drove her vehicle into his parked vehicle.  After investigating, a 33-year-old female from Lakefield was arrested for Domestic Assault, Child Endangerment, and Property Damage in the Third Degree. Another Domestic Disturbance was in Alba Township where the reports have been forwarded to the County Attorney’s Office for review for potential criminal charges. The Jackson Fire Dept. was paged to a report of a fire at Last Deck.  The fire was put out with an extinguisher prior to the arrival of the fire department. A deputy placed Swim buoys for the public beaches and swimming areas at Clear Lake and Pearl Lake and deputies who are members of the HEAT Team responded to a callout in Nobles County. A deputy responded to a report of an elderly male at the Des Moines Rest Stop on I-90 walking around the parking lot wearing only a Depends undergarment.  The caller was concerned for the well being of the person.  When the deputy arrived, another motorist said the elderly male left in a vehicle but had put a pair of shorts on before leaving. Sun & Fun Summer Kick Off is this Saturday, June 1st with all events at the Jackson Motorplex! Whatever comes to mind that makes you think Summer is most likely an event happening! There is a Backyard BBQ Contest- Come taste some of the best barbeque with a Sampler Ticket for only $5. Serving from 5-6pm. Food Trucks and a Beer Garden will be on-site throughout the Event. Don’t miss out on the Car Show too! Registration is from 5-6pm with Voting from 5-6:30pm and Awards presented at 7pm. There is no entry fee and prizes for 5 classes- Cars, Trucks, Open(unique vehicles) Motorcycles and Youth Ages 18 and Under. Sean Benz is Live from 5pm-7pm and Slamabama will put on a fun and entertain concert starting at 7:30pm. There will be free rides from 8:30-11:30pm by UCAP Community Transit Bus. NEXTera Energy will provide Fireworks following the Concert and from 10:30pm-1:30am there will be a Sundown After-Party featuring SKAR at Bucksnorts located at 105 Sherman Street in Jackson. The Minnesota State Cattlemen’s Association Summer Tour is June 25th in Thief River Falls. Registration opened the 1st of February. $25 per person if you register before June 1st Students are $10.
