Minnesota State Patrol reported on the 21st at approximately 4:51 pm A 2011 Dodge Caravan was stopped at the intersection of MN Highway 86 at 720th Street to turn when a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser was traveling north on Highway 86 and they collided. The Driver of the Caravan a 46 year-old female from Round Lake with her two passengers a 17 year old female and a one year old male were transported to Lake Regional Hospital in Iowa with what was thought to be non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the PT Cruiser a 17-year-old female from Lakefield was also transported with what was thought to be non-life threatening injuries to the Lake Regional Hospital. All car occupants were wearing seat belts. Assisting at the scene were Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Lakefield Ambulance and Lakes Regional Care Ambulance.

Windom Police Department reported on the 20th at approximately 12:27am an officer was dispatched to Speedway in the 1500 Block of 1st Ave for a report of a suspicious person. The reporting party stated that there was a young female at this location that stated she was lost. After investigation, and tests performed, an arrest was made of a 25-year-old Windom female for DWI, Operating the Motor Vehicle while Under the Influence of Alcohol, pending results of the BCA Urine Test. On the 21st at 1:57am Officers responded to the AmericInn for a report of an assault that had taken place at the Family Dollar approximately 10 minutes prior to the call. The reporting party informed law enforcement that the victim had walked into the lobby of the hotel and was bleeding. Medical was paged at this time. The victim was a 17-year-old from Lakefield. The matter is pending review for Damage to Property to a 2000 Dodge Ram Pickup, including a panel dent and headliner peeled on drivers’ side, and 5th Degree Assault charges by one adult male and one juvenile male both from Bingham Lake to the juvenile male from Lakefield. Case is being reviewed by the Prosecuting Attorney. Also, on the 21st at 5:59pm a two vehicle non-injury accident in the HyVee Parking lot both vehicles received minor damage.

Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Department reported on the 20th at 1:46am deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Clark St. and Stevens Ave. in Jeffers for a noise complaint. Two males, a 20-year-old from Lamberton and 19-year-old from Jeffers were issued minor consumption citations. On the 21st at approximately 1:57am Deputies assisted Windom Police Department with an assault at Family Dollar in Windom.

The Windom Women of Today hosted a Red Cross Blood Drive on the 17th. They had 70 collections which included 68 presenting 11 power red and 48 whole blood. They had 12 no show appointments and 6 people were deferred for different reasons. Door Prizes, $25 HyVee Gift Cards were won by Colin Bennett and Breanna Wagner. Two people reached a 9- gallon Milestone of Units donated Susan Zins and Larry Gravely. The Windom Women of Today Blood Drive Coordinator, Monica Muller wanted to express their sincere appreciation and thanks to all the donors at this blood drive. Muller went on to say, “You are all truly life savers to many people. We greatly appreciate every donor for taking the time to donate. We are especially grateful for all our loyal donors who sign up for every drive. The next scheduled drive for the Windom Women of Today is set for July 24th.
