Windom Police Department reported on the 9th an officer was dispatched to Runnings to take a theft report. According to the manager at Runnings the theft occurred on the 8th between 5:30pm and 5:51pm. The Manager had taken inventory to verify the missing items and also located the security sensors that had been cut off scattered around the store. Items that were taken include: DeWALT Bluetooth speaker, DeWALT battery 20Volt 4-pack, M18 Hackzall , DeWALT rechargeable light, and a M12 ¼ inch- long reach high speed Rachet. Total loss was $799.95.

Mountain Lake Police Station reported six calls in the week of November 8th to the 12th. A officer assisted another agency with trying to locate a suicidal party, handled a civil matter and cited a 50 year old male from Mt Lake for Driving After Revocation. Mt Lake Police assisted another agency with a car vs deer accident at the intersection of HWY 60 and County Road 27 East a tow was called to the scene. They also assisted another agency with an accident with injuries at the intersection of County Road 13 and County Road 1 in Mt Lake and responded to a fire alarm at Parkwood Place which turned out to be a false alarm someone had pulled the alarm.

The Cottonwood County Board of Commissioners met yesterday for a work session. Commissioners approved to allow the Auditor/Treasurer to sign the Nyhart Service Agreement to prepare the annual GASB75 actuarial updates for Fiscal Year 23 and Fiscal Year 24. The Master Client Agreement Work Order with Stonebrooke for design services on Bridge #17514 in the amount of $56,970 and to allow the County Engineer to hire a Geotechnical consultant to develop a subsurface explorations program that is appropriate for the site and structure type was approved. There was an approval for a motion to extend the deadline for an additional 15 working days to December 8, 2023, for the decision on the potential EAW for the Minnesota Paving and Materials Project. It was determined by the Board that the Board Chair and Vice-Chair will make the decision if a purchase can be made from an online auction site for equipment, and the Commissioners were led in a review and discussion of the Solid Waste Management Alternatives Feasibility Study by Assistant County Engineer/Solid Waste Administrator Kyle Pillatzki.

Thanksgiving is just one week away but there is no need to panic! The Lutheran Church of Our Savior is having their Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 23rd and everyone is invited. Dinner will be served from 11am to 1pm. This is for anyone that may have no family with them and or no place to go for Thanksgiving Day Meal. Come experience the fellowship while enjoying a traditional meal of Turkey and Dressing, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Vegetables, Roll, Dessert and a Beverage. This is free to the community but a Free Will Donation would be accepted. A Thanksgiving Morning Worship Service will be held prior to the start of the meal at 10am if you would like to participate. The Lutheran Church of Our Savior is located at 1157 3rd Ave in Windom. There is so much to be thankful for and coming together as a community is just one of them. The Mountain Lake Public Schools will be presenting their Fall Musical- Disney’s The Little Mermaid Friday November 17th through the Sunday the 19th. Performances will in the Schools Auditorium located at 450 12th Street N in Mountain Lake. Doors open one hour prior to showtime. Grab your family and friends and enjoy being whisked away in a tale of land and sea. Friday and Saturday Night performances at 7pm and a Sunday Matinee at 2:30pm. Tickets can be purchased at the door. Adults are $7 and Students are $5.

The Windom Women of Today will be sponsoring Santa’s Workshop for Kids at the BARC Library on December 2nd from 10am to 1pm. All kids are welcome to shop for gifts for their family and friends. All gifts are priced $5 or less. The Windom Women of Today are looking for donations of new or gently used items for all ages. Donated items can be dropped off in the designated boxes outside of the BARC Library. Deadline to drop off items is Friday December 1st. Donations of Christmas wrapping paper, tape, gift bags and name tags would be appreciated too.
