Redwood County Sheriff’s Office reported on the 26th at approximately 11:21 am the Redwood County Sheriff’s office was requested to assist the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office with a criminal threats of violence investigation. The suspect of the investigation was located within the 200 block of Lorrain Street in the city of Milroy. The suspect refused to exit the residence, and law enforcement set up a perimeter. After a brief period of time, the suspect surrendered and was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was turned over to the custody of the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office. Due to the close proximity of the Milroy Public School, they were placed on a brief lockdown during the incident. Assisting agencies included the Minnesota State Patrol and the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported on the 26th at 12:33am a deputy conducted a requested welfare check. Deputies also investigated a possible Order For Protection Violation and assisted with traffic control for Jackson’s Trunk or Treat event. At 6:21pm a deputy responded to a car vs deer crash on County Road 4 near Loon Lake. A Deer Possession Tag was issued to the driver.

Former owner Darin Lee Horner of Affordable Appliance Plus in Tracy appeared in Lyon County District Court on the 24th for charges according to court records for racketeering and six counts of theft by swindle. Criminal complaint alleges that from March 2017 to June 2019, Horner committed three or more acts of theft by swindle and used the money from those acts for business and personal expenses. Horner is said to have accepted payments for appliances that he did not deliver. The Tracy Police Department received more than 40 complaints starting in October 2018. The complaintants allege they paid Horner for goods that were misrepresented or that they never received at all. According to court records Horner made his first court appearance back in May and an omnibus hearing was scheduled in July but was continued to October. Court records said a contested omnibus hearing is set for December 19th.

There will be an Open House Reception for Joe McCabe and Dana Moody at the St James Chamber of Commerce located at 602 2nd Ave S TODAY from 1-3pm. Joe McCabe and Dana Moody have led the Chamber for the last several years and Dana was integral in keeping the Chamber running when Joe was dealing with medical concerns.
