Premium Iowa Pork (PIP) announced on Monday, that they are ready to begin the remodel of the Windom Pork Plant after they have completed a comprehensive evaluation of their newly acquired Windom Facility. Premium Iowa Pork acquired the Windom facility from HyLife Ltd. on June 2, 2023. Since then, PIP’s leadership team has been evaluating the space to determine how it will best complement its existing operations in the region. PIP plans to move forward with Phase 2 of the project, which focuses on modernizing the facility through a series of design and operational upgrades to meet PIP’s future needs for the space. The team has begun to remove outdated equipment and infrastructure to assist in this process, bringing the plant one step closer to reopening as a new Premium Iowa Pork brand. Dan Paquin, president of Premium Iowa Pork stated that from the beginning, they have been excited to be part of the Windom community and continuing to do what we’ve always done – bring high-quality pork products to families’ tables. Paquin went onto say that Premium Iowa Pork is well-established in the northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota region with existing operations in Hospers and Luverne, respectively. PIP proudly serves private-label, antibiotic-free pork to grocery stores across the country and has done so since 2005 – employing over 900 Iowans, Minnesotans and South Dakotans who are passionate about creating high-quality pork products. “Retrofitting the facility allows us to be versatile when it comes to future pork production plans,” said Paquin. “Once the space is completely upgraded, our team will be able to make final determinations on plans for operation.” More information is available at www.premiumiowapork.com
