Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported on the 9th transferred a 911 report to the MN State Patrol concerning an erratic driver on I-90 near Heron Lake exit. Deputies issued a citation for speeding in Jackson, responded to a barking dog complaint and dealt with a Facebook Market Scam. The reporting party wanted to buy a couch for sale for $400 from a seller in Madison, SD.  The seller required a $150 deposit through Venmo.  The caller sent Venmo payment for the $150.  The Venmo account name, which was Aonani-Otero, did not match the Facebook account name.  The Madison Police Department assisted in the investigation and learned that the account for the Madison resident had been hacked months ago.  Once the $150 was sent, the caller said they were blocked on Facebook by the seller. Just a reminder to ALWAYS verify requested transactions PRIOR to actually making any financial transaction or giving any personal information.
