Starting today at 8am, Cottonwood County Highway 7 will be closed from County Highway 13 to Truck Highway 62. Also closed will be County Road 15 from County Road 7 to the Murray County line. Both closures are expected to be open by late afternoon.


The St. James liquor Store starts their flooring and beer cooler shelving project in a few weeks starting on Monday, July 31st. As they prepare for that project, the St. James Liquor Store will begin moving their items around starting next Monday, July 24th. To help you during this transition, they will have staff on hand to help you find items you’re looking for that may be moved around in the store. Also take note that the beer will be sold at room temperature for 5-7 days during this time. It’s the St. James Liquor Store’s goal to remain open during this time, however they may need to be closed or open reduced hours during this project. The Windom Area Schools Board of Education declared their surplus of iPads to be sold to the public in July. Windom Area School Superintendent Jamie Frank gives details on those in you’re interested… 

There are 450 7th generation iPads and 51 6th generation iPads available. They’ll be sold to the public on July 28th from 8am-12pm.

Murray County was recently awarded $44,000 to add a generator to the county designated shelter as part of the Emergency Management Performance American Rescue Plan Act Grant. That money would cover the generator, labor, materials, and concrete pad. The Murray County Board of Commissioners made a motion and approved the grant and grant terms.


Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office reported 43 calls in the week of July 10th-July 16th, 2023. Deputies conducted 8 traffic stops, had 5 animal calls, 4 Civil processes, and 4 directed patrols.
