Sanborn Days starts Today!!! The carnival starts today with the midway opening at 5:00pm and then 4:30pm on Tuesday August 1st. Other events today is the firemen water fights at 6:30 and the Queen Pageant at the Community Center at 8:00pm. Tuesday August 1st the Grand Parade starts at 6:30pm with FREE Watermelon following the parade.

Tonight, is the Business, Arts and Recreation Annual Community Block Party. The 22nd Annual Meeting will be held on the east lawn following the Block Party. Festivities start at 5:30pm with a picnic meal of burgers or brats, baked beans, chips a cookie and dessert all for a free-will donation. Take-outs will be available. Silent Auction bids will be taken until the conclusion of the Annual meeting. BARC counts on the community and encourages you to support their cause by becoming a member whether it is an individual, couple, family or business membership.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Department reported on the 27th Deputies delt with two separate disturbances in Jackson and responded to a a natural gas line leak in Jackson. The Fire Dept. and MN Energy also responded to the scene. The leak was repaired without any injuries. At 5:22pm a deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on MN 60 west of Heron Lake on a vehicle travelling 101 mph in a 65 mph zone. A brief pursuit ensued before the vehicle came to a stop behind a building site just off MN 60. A 24-year-old male from rural Okabena was arrested for Fleeing in a Motor Vehicle. At 11:22pm a deputy conducted a traffic stop in Lakefield. After investigating, a 44-year-old male from Lakefield was arrested for DUI.

Tuesday is Night to Unite!
Windom will be celebrating on the square from 5:30-7:00pm. You can come meet all your first responders and enjoy a meal and ice cream social with fun and door prizes for all ages!!
Mt Lake will be celebrating with a Block Party on the One-Way on 10th Street North from 5-8. Over 20 different businesses will be gathered on the One-Way to show off the local businesses of Mountain Lake. Come meet your neighbors and friends.
St. James Police Department along with the City of St. James will be hosting the annual National Night Out event at the Memorial Park from 5 to 7 at the North Shelter. This event will allow community members to speak with city departments, such as the Police, Ambulance, Fire, Light, Street, Water and Waste Water Departments. Staff will be on hand to not only answer questions but allow the community to look at some of the specialized equipment that each department utilizes on a day to day basis. City Hall staff and City Council members will also be in attendance during this event. There will also be a bouncy house, selfie photo spots, and fundraisers going on during this time. Food will be served free of charge, but quantities are limited.
