The Redwood County Sheriff’s Office reported on the 21st Deputies were dispatched at approximately 3am to rural Vesta for a report of an intoxicated female chasing a male through the yard with a handgun and then getting into a vehicle and crashing it into another vehicle on the property. When Redwood County Sheriff’s deputies arrived on scene, the vehicle fled and led deputies on a 20-mile pursuit. After a successful pit maneuver was done on the vehicle, the female was apprehended. She was later transported to the Redwood County Jail. The Redwood County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office. The case currently remains under investigation.

Mark your calendars for the Business, Arts and Recreation Annual Community Block Party next Monday July 31st. The 22nd Annual Meeting will be held on the east lawn following the Block Party. The MN State Cattlemen’s Tour was a total success this year. The tour had 630 people check in and there were 11 buses with several locals driving as well. There were over 800 steaks grilled up for the evening meal. If you attended or were involved, Murray County Tour Chairman, Angie Ford is asking for any feedback you might have. The next event for the MN State Cattlemen’s will be the Minnesota Cattle Industry Convention (MCIC) held December 14 thru 16th at Arrowwood Resort in Alexandria. Cottonwood County Board of Commissioners at their July 18th Meeting discussed a potential ordinance for the development of guidelines for the sale of cannabis products- which included limits of hours of sales, places eligible for distribution and registration requirements and license fees in the County. Nick Anderson, Cottonwood County Attorney, said the States Statute requires that cannabis sales can only be sold in specialized stores and cannot be over-the-counter at a gas station, tobacco store or other general retail stores. Public Hearing dates on the proposed ordinance will be announced at a later date by the Cottonwood County Cannabis Policy Committee.
