Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office reported 67 calls in the week of April 30th to May 6th. Deputies assisted with 5 Ambulance Medical Calls, had 4 Animal Calls, conducted 8 Civil Processes, assisted with 2 Grass Fires and 1 Structure Fire, had 2 suspicious vehicle calls, and had 10 traffic stops. The Windom American Legion Auxilary Unit 206 recently held its Annual Election with Jean Hoppe as President, Debby Mau as Secretary and Mary Meyer Treasurer/Membership Chairman. The Unit announced that Poppy distribution will be May 25th, 26th, and 27th at HyVee in Windom. The third annual second grade Poppy Coloring Contest will be held for the Windom Second Graders with all entries being displayed at local store windows for National Poppy Day on May 26th. The Windom Dairy Queen will co-sponsor the event giving each First, Second and Third Place Winners from each of the four classes a coupon for a free ice cream cone. The winners will also receive a free Poppy Coloring Book. All second grade participants will receive a Poppy Bookmark.

Windom City Council will hold a special meeting today at 4:30pm. There are two action items for the agenda: the Board of Review and a resolution requesting State Assistance.

The City of Windom’s Appeal and Equalization starts at 4:30pm today in the Windom City Council Chambers. This public forum is for anyone that would like to dispute their property taxes within the City of Windom. The Council asks that you please be prepared with your address and parcel number when discussing your property.

The Windom CIC and Community Partners will be hosting an informational presentation and resource fair at the American Lutheran Church located at 906 Prospect Ave in Windom in the Fellowship Hall, Saturday May 13th. The Informational presentation begins at 1pm and the Resource Fair will run from 2:30-4pm.
