Did you know there is a group called the Windom Arena Booster Club? This is a group of individuals that have an interest in helping the community events that take place at the Arena including Horse Shows, Ice Skating, Hockey and other events that bring people to our town.  According to member Page Kern, a few things the Boosters have done are: financially support youth that may have financial challenges with participation, like hockey scholarships; support youth events at the arena; the boosters ran the concession stand during the ice show and then donated back to the figure skating club; the Booster also purchased updated public skates recently and the rubber floor matting was a purchase the ABC supported along with the updating of the court area heating/cooling.

There was a great response from the community when the City was considering not bringing in the clay base back into the arena this past Fall and the group is hoping to get more people involved in the Arena Booster Club so that all events can be supported properly. The group has been a working force since before 1982. There is no cost to join or to be involved, aside from sharing time and talents when needed and to support fundraising and events at the arena. According to ABC member Page Kern, they are looking for ANYONE interested in the activities at the arena, or the working of the arena, is welcome to attend and support the ABC. Previous members included the Chamber of Commerce, Business Owners, Horse Show Reps, Hockey/Figure Skating Reps, Racquetball Reps and individuals just wanting to be a part of a great group. President of the Arena Booster Club,  Donna Dunse (DUNZEE) is inviting anyone and everyone interested to join them Tuesday May 2nd at 5:30pm in the Windom Arena Community Room for a public meeting concerning the activities of the arena. Donna had a great interview that is posted on KDOM’s Webpage under the POD CAST tab. If you would like to learn more about what the group is all about come out and participate, the Boosters could use some new members.
