It was a busy weekend for The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. On the 17th, it was reported that there were eight different vehicle accidents between the hours of 8:42am to 9:56pm. Deputies assisted motorist in ditches on County Road 16 east on MN 86, County Road 9 and 14, I-90 near the Heron Lake exit, MN 60 West of Heron Lake, three separate jackknifed semi’s on I-90 near Heron Lake, a semi in the median then into a field on I-90 near the Nobles County line. Dispatch sent MN State Patrol a report of a Hit and Run that occurred on MN 60 near Wilder. A semi driver reported being hit by a pickup with Texas License Plates and was following the pickup towards Windom. Deputies also assisted the Jackson Ambulance with a medical call. On the 18th, Deputies again dealt with five vehicle and semi assists throughout the day from 1:49am to 9:41pm. Three separate semis in the median, a disabled semi and in the ditch on I-90 near Heron Lake exit, a jackknifed semi on MN 60 east of Brewster. Two separate vehicles in the ditch on MN 60 east of Brewster. Deputies also assisted the Cottonwood County Sheriffs Office with a Hit and Run investigation that occurred in their county and responded to a report of illegal dumping of tires at the Jackson City dump and handled a possible violation of an Order For Protection.

The Windom Police Department and the Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office were busy on the 17th assisting stranded motorist and getting them set up in the BARC. The Sheriff posted a News Release that is available on Social Media thanking the Community for coming together and making the popup shelter at the BARC a success.

Tonight, Windom Women of Today invite all ladies to join them at their meeting to see what they have to offer. According to President, Monica Muller, Windom Women of Today is a lady’s organization that supports and participate in community service work. Some of the biggest service projects the group chairs Muller stated are Red Cross Blood Drives, United Service Drive, Miss Riverfest Pageant, Cottonwood County Christmas Cheer Box, Santa’s Workshop and Cookies with Mrs. Claus. BINGO at the BARC tomorrow night will be hosted by Windom Women of Today. Monica, went onto say that Windom Women of Today would love to build their membership so they can do bigger projects. The group strives to help the community to be a better place through volunteerism. Women of Today do have a Facebook Page go to: Women of Today- Windom, MN that they encourage interested people to visit to see and obtain information on future projects and meetings. Monica stated the Windom Chapter meets once a month and TONIGHT is March’s meeting. Monica, who as mentioned before is the current President has been a member since 1984 and says that she has enjoyed each and every year as a member. Monica stated, “It feels good to do community service work!” Fun Fact… Right now, Monica is the 5th longest lasting Women of Today member in the State of Minnesota. Tickets go on sale TODAY for ‘Nunsense-The Mega Musical Version’ brought to you by the Prairie Arts Continuum at the BARC between the hours of Noon to 4pm. There will be four performances at the BARC Auditorium in downtown Windom. Three nights April 13th through the 15th at 7pm and a 2pm matinee on Sunday April 16th. March 25th is the Minneapolis International Festival that celebrates amazing cultures from the City and Surrounding areas.
