The Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office reported 50 calls from January 29th to February 4th. Deputies had nine Civil processes, Four Traffic Stops, one verbal domestic call, two motor assists, three animal calls, one assault call and one suspicious activity call. Windom Police Department reported a DWI call on the 3rd at approximately 11:15 pm. An officer was on patrol on Highway 60 traveling southbound when he observed a vehicle cross over the fog line just south on Highway 71 North. After a traffic stop and investigation, charges are pending on a 34-year-old Walthill NE male for 2nd Degree Gross DWI, while an aggravating factor was present, specifically a blood concentration of .29 and having a prior DUI conviction in 2019.

The Windom Area School District Board of Education will have a strategic planning meeting in the Elementary Library on Thursday February 9th at 7pm. Agenda items include elements of the strategic plan to determine districts vision for the next five years including a state of the school update and an environmental scan.

Central Minnesota Christian School was the Champion in the Section 3A One Act Play contest held in Redwood Valley on the 4th . Murray County Central High School was the runner up. Central Minnesota Christian School will present their production at the OAP State Festival this Friday February 10th at 1:30pm in the Auditorium at the St Catherine University in St Paul MN. There were eight schools that competed this past weekend including: BOLD High School, Central MN Christian High School, Lac qui Parle Valley High School, Luverne High School, Montevideo High School, Morris Area High School, Murray County Central High School and Westbrook Walnut Grove High School.

The 39th Annual Windom Farm and Home Show date has been announced. It will be held on Saturday, March 4th at the Windom Area Middle/High School from 8:30am-2pm. According to Executive Director Emily Cenzano, this event supports and promotes local farm and home related businesses. It is free to the public to attend. The Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce has operated as an independent entity for many years, previously using the meeting space in City Hall along with using the mailing address of the city office, and the help of city staff to keep the chamber of commerce business in order. The Chamber Board is excited to announce that as of January 1, 2023, the Chamber of Commerce is now operating independently. They will be kicking off 2023 with a Strategic Planning Meeting on February 23rd from 6-8 at the Mt Lake Community Center. They will also be drawing the winners of the Beautification Committees Raffle on that evening soup and bread sticks being served by the Beautification Committee. Whether you are new to the Mountain Lake Chamber or have been a member for many years, the Chamber Board wants to invite and encourage everyone to attend the annual strategic planning meeting on the 23rd.
