The Mt Lake Police Department had nine reports from January 23rd to the 30th. Officers handled a disturbance between two brothers, made a warrant arrest, took a report of a phone scam and dealt with an unlawful deposit of garbage. Officers received a report of a fight between several parties in the Dollar General parking lot. Everyone was gone on arrival this remains under investigation. Officers assisted other agencies twice with vehicles off the road and took a report of a hit and run and a missing dog.

The Windom Police Department reported on the 29th of January at approximately 12:10am an officer was called to the BARC for a possible fight. When the officer arrived on scene at the south side of BARC he noticed a large crowd and a man lying on the ground. After investigation, a 25-year-old Windom male assaulted a 31-year-old victim from Windom who was taken to Windom Area Hospital for treatment. The 25 year old male had inflicted substantial bodily harm specifically multiple fractures. After review by County Attorney’s Office, charges of 3rd Degree Assault causing substantial bodily harm, a Felony is being charged on the 25 year old Windom Male. On the 31st a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 60 and the Liquor Store. A 2015 Ford Focus and a 2001 Chevy Silverado were traveling south on Highway 60 going past 6th street in Windom. The Ford was going to turn east into a parking lot from Highway 60 when the chevy hit the ford causing a rear-end crash. There were no injuries reported.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported on the 31st a deputy responded to a minor accident in Jackson t 11:35 am and then at 1:45pm deputies assisted the Jackson Ambulance with a medical. At 8:44pm Dispatch transferred a 911 call from a semi driver who ran out of diesel fuel on I-90 about 1 mile from Jackson. The driver requested a tow truck deliver some diesel to him but was refusing to pay whatever fee the tow operator would charge for the delivery.

St James City Hall is moving! City Hall offices will be moving to 1205 Armstrong Blvd S during the month of February. They will be tentatively closed Thursday, February 16 and Friday, February 17 and also the following Monday, February 20 due to observance of Presidents Day. During the move, it may be necessary to close the office for short periods of time. The city hall staff would appreciate your patience as they get settled in their new space. You can find updates on the city website www.ci.stjames.mn.us and the St James’ City Facebook page. The utility drop box in front of the current city hall located at 124 Armstrong Blvd S. will remain there to drop payments off. There will be an Open House to showcase the new City Hall building in upcoming weeks.

An upcoming Firearms Safety Training will take place starting with class dates on Saturday February 25th,with remaining class dates of March 4th, 11th,18th, and 25th and April 1st . Class times are 9am-11am with a field day April 15th at 1pm at the Talcot Lake Management Gravel Pit in Dundee MN. The instructor will be Marvin Isder. You must be 11 years of age before February 25th in order to be eligible to take this class.

Submissions of a photo will release the photo to the City of St. James. The photo may be used on the city website, Facebook and other marketing materials.
