The Windom Police Department released the following statement in a Press Release this morning.
“On January 9, 2023, at approximately 2:24 P.M., the Windom Police Department was advised by the Windom Area Schools of a possible threat to the building. Upon investigation, a 14-year-old male juvenile was taken into custody on suspicion of terroristic threats.
The Juvenile was trasported to Prairie Lake Juvenile Holding Facility in Willmar. At this time, the Windom Police Department believes that no current threat exists to the building or students of the Windom Area Schools.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported on the 8th a deputy responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on CR 24 in Heron Lake Township. A tow truck was called to the scene to assist. In the late afternoon, deputies assisted the Sherburn PD with a traffic stop that started in Sherburn and continued into the city of Alpha where the vehicle finally stopped and at approximately 11pm a deputy assisted the MN State Patrol with a traffic stop in Jackson on Springfield Pkwy. The driver was arrested for a controlled substance crime.

The Windom Police Department reported on the 7th at approximately 1:20am an officer was patrolling traveling southbound on Highway 60 when he observed a vehicle that appeared to be stuck in a snowbank on 1st Ave and 12th Street in Windom. After investigating, an arrest was made of a 37-year-old Windom Male for 2nd Degree DUI, pending review by the County Attorney’s Office. At 11:09 pm an officer responded to the 900 block of 3rd Ave for a report of a domestic assault regarding a Windom Female. An officer arrived at the scene and spoke with two females who were outside of the residence waiting for law enforcement. After speaking with a 16 year old female victim that was crying and had a red colored right cheek area, and further investigation, a 22 year old male from Windom was arrested for Domestic Assault.
