The Minnesota State Patrol handled an injury accident on the 20th at 12:08pm on Highway 71 at Milepost 40, Amboy Township in Cottonwood County. A 2004 Dodge Ram driven by a 75-year-old male with his 74 year old female passenger, were southbound on Highway 71 when he lost control on the icy road, the vehicle went off the road and rolled. Outside agencies assisting were the Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office, Jeffers Fire Department and Windom Ambulance.

On the 19th at 1:30pm MN State Patrol reported a two-vehicle injury accident at the intersection of Highway 60 and Highway 86, in Jackson County. A 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by a 32-year-old female from Good Thunder MN and a 2014 Freightliner Semi driven by a 37-year-old male from Willmar were both traveling westbound on Highway 60 when they collided at the intersection of Highway 60 and 86. The female was taken to the Windom Health Emergency Room with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. Other agencies assisting were Windom Fire and Ambulance, Cottonwood, and Jackson County Sheriff’s Offices.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported on the 19th they assisted the MN State Patrol at approximately 1:30pm with a two vehicle accident with minor injuries at the intersection of MN 60 and MN 86 and then assisted MN State Patrol again at 2:15pm with a vehicle in the median on I-90 west of Jackson.  Warmka Towing assisted at the scene. At 6:50pm A deputy responded to an overturned semi and trailer at the intersection of 350th Ave and 750th Street in Round Lake Township.  As the semi made a turn onto 750th St., the trailer slid into the ditch causing the entire rig to overturn blocking the entire road.  Adrian’s Auto assisted at the scene.

Don Brugman will be retiring from the Windom School Board after 26 years of service on December 31st. Don also served on the SWWC Board of Directors for 20 years and currently serves as the clerk. He is a member of the Finance Committee and previously chaired the Finance and Policy Committee. Don has been apart of passing several referendums, operating and building project bonds. During his tenure, the Board achieved a new Elementary School in 2020 an addition to the CTE Center in 2020 and a Middle School addition in 2001. Don has been a trustworthy, dependable and knowledgeable member of the  School Board and his leadership has been appreciated.

Don’t forget to step outside tonight to witness the Christmas Star or also known as the Star of Bethlehem. Tonight, Jupiter and Saturn will appear to merge from the Earth’s view of the night sky this is the first time it has happened in almost 800 years.
