The Windom Police Department reported on the 7th at approximately 1:45am, an officer was on patrol traveling southbound on highway 60 when he observed a vehicle traveling at an accelerated speed a weaving between the center and fog lines on Highway 60 and Kwik Stop. After investigation and traffic stop an arrest was made of a 30-yar old man from Omaha NE for possible DWI pending blood test results. In the afternoon an officer was dispatched to the Kwik Trip in Windom in reference to a counterfeit $100 bill that was passed early in the day. Kwik Trip had the counterfeit bill in their possession and was checking the store video.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported at 1:14am A deputy conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of CR 9 and CR 14.  After investigating, a 24-year-old male from Okabena was arrested for DUI. In the afternoon a deputy responded to a vehicle that slid into the ditch on County Road 4 by Petersburg. Warmka Towing assisted at that scene and then at 10:12 pm a deputy responded to a report of vandalism at a residence in Jackson.

The Windom Area School District School Board will be holding a Special Meeting on Thursday December 15th at 5pm. This will be a closed meeting to discuss pending litigation.  The meeting will be held in the Windom Elementary School Conference Room.

The Windom Community Center is gearing up for some Christmas Vacation FUN!! It’s all new FUN for kids 12 and under- to get out of the house and burn that Holiday energy!!! Bouncy Houses, by Inflatables 4 Fun, will be available on Thursday December 29th from 8am to 8pm and on Friday December 30th from 8am to 6pm. All sessions start at the top of the hour and cost will be $5 per hour. Family Passes will be available for $20. There will be a limit to 25 kids per session. Reservations are not necessary but encouraged. You can make reservations by calling 507-831-6149. A parent or guardian must be present and supervise child’s playtime.  There will be Family Times on Thursday from 6-8pm and on Friday from 4-6pm. The Agribusiness Committee of FORWARD Worthington is partnering with Nobles County Corn & Soybean Growers Association, Rock Nobles Cattleman and Nobles County Farm Bureau. All 4 organizations recognize the fact that education and living costs have gone up. Therefore, they have decided to increase their scholarship amount to $1,250 per scholarship given away. The objective is to create scholarships for high school graduates entering college in an agricultural related field. Any high school graduate can apply for the scholarships that fulfills the following requirements:

  • 2023 graduating senior;
  • Nobles County resident;
  • Attending any two- or four-year college for an agriculture or bio-science related field of study. The deadline to submit the applications is February 1, 2023. All completed applications should be sent or dropped off to FORWARD Worthington, 700 2nd Avenue, Worthington, MN 56187.
