Minnesota State Patrol reported an injury accident Monday the 31st at 2:28pm on Hwy 62 at 3rd Avenue in Windom. A 2001 Ford F150 driven by a 25-year-old male from Okabena was southbound on Highway 60 and a 61-year-old female from Windom driving a 2007 Toyota Camry was eastbound on 3rd Avenue when the two vehicles collided at the intersection. Assisting Agencies were Windom EMS and Fire and the Cottonwood County Sheriffs Office. The female was taken to the Windom Area Hospital for injuries.

Mountain Lake Police continue to investigate a fatal car vs pedestrian accident in Mt Lake on October 31st at approximately 10:22 am at the intersection of 3rd Ave and 12th Street North, by the old Dairy Queen. Chief Doug Bristol reported A 69-year-old male from Mountain Lake was stopped at a stop sign facing South at the intersection of 3rd Ave and 12th Street North in his 2011 Ford F150. As he was turning left headed east the sun was blinding and he did not see a 78-year-old female from Mt Lake and struck her. The elderly lady died from her injuries. The name of the victim is not being released pending notification of next of kin. Police Chief Bristol is asking if anyone has any information or may have been in the vicinity at the time of the accident to please contact the Mt Lake Police Department at 507-427-3403

Jackson County Sheriff’s Department reported at 12:22 pm on October 30th, deputies and the Jackson Fire Department responded to a grove fire south of Jackson. Crews were on scene for about 45 minutes. At approximately 4pm deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in Jackson and around 8pm Deputies responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on CR 29 in Enterprise Township. After investigating, a 35-year-old male from Odin was arrested for DUI. Deputies handled another domestic disturbance at approximately 8:30pm. On the 31st at 8:04pm Deputies responded to a report of 2-3 juveniles breaking glass in the middle of the intersection of Terrace and South St. No juveniles were found in the area when deputies arrived, but neighbors were found cleaning up the glass from the street. Later in the evening a deputy assisted the Worthington PD with a gas drive-off that had ties to a Jackson County resident.

There will be a Snowmobile Safety Field Day Class on Saturday January 7, 2023 at 9am in Fairmont. The instructor will be Isaac Wallace. You must register for the class by 12/31/2022 with Fairmont CER at 507-235-3141 or online at Fairmont Community-Education . You must be 11 years of age before class start date listed above and have completed the online course in order to be eligible to take this class. Print your completion voucher and bring to class along with a copy of your birth certificate. Parent or guardian must accompany youth to sign the waiver and are encouraged to stay for the class. Each student must bring proper attire: helmet, gloves, snow pants, jacket and boots. A snowmobile will be available.
