Mountain Lake Police Chief Doug Bristol reported that on the 31st at approximately 10:22am there was a fatal car vs pedestrian accident. A 69 year old male from Mountain Lake was stopped at a stop sign facing South at the intersection of 3rd Ave and 12th Street North in his 2011 Ford F150. As he was turning left headed east the sun was blinding and he did not see a 78 year old female from Mt Lake and struck her. The female succumbed to her injuries. The name of the victim is not being released pending notification of next of kin. There was no alcohol or drugs involved and the matter is under investigation. Police Chief Bristol is asking if anyone has any information or may have been in the vicinity at the time of the accident to please contact the Mt Lake Police Department at 507-427-3403

Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office reported at approximately 8:15pm on the 29th a Deputy was dispatched to a dog bite victim that was being seen in the Windom Area Health ER. Deputy arrived at the hospital and met with the parents of the child. The child had several little punctures to his face. Contact was made with the dog owner who was from Comfrey and was explained the quarantine notice.

Windom Police Department reported on the 27th at 12:20pm a pedestrian vs truck accident in the Windom Area School Parking lot. 16-year-old male was attempting to jump into the bed of a 17-year-olds 2003 Chevy Silverado truck while moving, lost his footing and fell backwards hitting his head on the pavement. The juvenile male was taken to hospital by parents due to the fall.
On the 28th around 10pm a Windom Officer was dispatched to the 1100 block of Miller Avenue for a report of vandalism. Upon investigation the officer noted a shattered egg on the front door. The Officers did extra patrol looking for any further suspicious activity. On the 29th at approximately 8pm an Officer went to the Law Enforcement Center and spoke to a female that stated she went to work at HyLife at 6am and left at 4pm the reporting party stated that she went to get food after her shift and noticed that $460 was missing out of her wallet. On the 30th a Mt Lake Female reported a theft of some clothing from HyLife that occurred at approximately 10:14pm on the 29th. Taken was a light blue hoodie, and a jacket with HyLife written on it was black with gold and royal blue writing. Approximate loss was $50.00 she also reported that at her shift’s end she found that her keys were missing along with padlock codes. Each Apartment key would cost $30 to replace total loss $90. She also noted that she had statement forms she had submitted to HyLife HR in her backpack that she noticed missing when she returned home.
